Julie Shiffler grew up in a small farming community in Linrose, Idaho, as the oldest of seven children. She attended Ricks College and then later returned to school at the age of 37 to receive her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees in psychology from Utah State University. She has been employed as a counselor at the BYU-Idaho Counseling Center for 23 years. Julie met her husband, Al, while she was attending Utah State University. They have been married for 27 years and have a blended family of eight children, 31 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Julie and Al love traveling together.
