Sister Amy Hanks was born in Logan, Utah. She is the oldest of seven siblings. She earned her associate degree in chemistry from Ricks College in 1996 and her bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Utah State University in 2000. In 2006, she earned her master of science degree in analytical chemistry from Utah State University. She has been teaching at BYU-Idaho since 2000. Amy Hanks loves her 28 nieces and nephews. Her hobbies include quilting, reading, and flower gardening, and she loves learning new things. Amy serves as a co-chair on the BYU-Idaho Women in STEM Committee. She has held various church callings in Young Women, Relief Society, and Primary. Her current church calling is as activity day leader.
