Elder Chi Hong (Sam) Wong was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 5, 2014. At the time of his call, he had been serving as a member of the Eighth Quorum of the Seventy in the Asia Area. He served as a member of the Asia Area Presidency and later as president of the Canada Vancouver Mission. He is currently serving as First Counselor in the North America Central Area Presidency. 
Elder Sam Wong was born in 1962, in Hong Kong, China. After completing secondary school, he met a young woman named Carol at work. She introduced him to the gospel, and he began the missionary discussions. He was baptized on Valentine’s day in 1982. Just over a year later, he married Carol. They were later sealed in the Laie Hawaii Temple while he attended BYU-Hawaii. Elder Wong received a bachelor of science degree in accounting and an associate of science degree in computer science. He would later receive an MBA from the Hong Kong Open University. During his career, Elder Wong was the founder and partner of a business and quality consulting company and also worked at a materials testing and inspection group where he began as the senior accountant and left the company as the deputy managing director. Sister Carol Lu Wong was born and raised in Hong Kong. She has served in the Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary organizations. She has also taught seminary and Sunday School. Sister Wong served alongside her husband when he presided over the Canada Vancouver Mission. The Wongs have four children and five grandchildren. Watch here: www.byui.edu/devotionals
